The Start of the 31st

I was just playing around in the shops and randomly commented what a nice hat it was. It reminded me of this:

And the man got the hat for me for my 30th birthday, together with a pair of cute ankle boots from one of my favourite stores, Muji, and a box of Godivas. All these, after a most lovely meal of steak frites and brownie at the Marmalade Pantry. I am most happy. It's a great start to the 31st year.

I'm a Convert

Christmas is over, Santa has given his presents, so now I can confess how bad I've been. I’m a chocoholic. The richer, more chocolaty and sinful the dessert in question, the more I love it. While I appreciate light moist chocolate cakes, I especially love the fudgy, and the mousse-filled ones; so chocolaty rich, you think you will keel over and go to chocolate heaven if you dare take a second slice.

Naturally, I prefer fudgy brownies to the cake-like ones. So I wasn’t expecting to fall in love with this brownie when I bit into it. Most brownies are made with walnuts or pecans. This one has almond and chocolate chips. Maybe it’s the perfect melding of almond with chocolate. The flavour is so gorgeous, you don’t need the richness of fudge to take you to a dessert high. And because it's not rich, you think you could keep popping more slices in your mouth. I would have if I hadn't had so much good food before that. I think I'm a convert now. It may save me from more sinful desserts.

*I couldn't post a pix cos Blogger is giving me some problems.
